Memo to USOC: I don't care if it was free transit-department surplus fabric, nobody looks good in neon orange. Please smack some sense into the parties responsible for the ice-dance costuming before we all go blind out here.

First weekend of events: LYS finally admits that the needle won't be coming until the regular restock, more than a week away, so I decide to call around to some NotSoLYSes, and finally hit paydirt; work was transferred onto a proper 60" circular late Saturday, and knitting resumes doubletime. The difference is night and day -- for one thing, my left hand is no longer sore and chafed from simply trying to hold the work in place for every stitch -- and I am newly optimistic that I might actually get this thing done by next Sunday night after all. By my calculations, adjusted somewhat for real-time results now that I can actually stretch it all out flat enough to inform my guesstimations, I will have to begin the sleeve area Tuesday night to have a chance at this, and it'll just be however long it ends up being at that point; fortunately the design is such that switching some body-length into the sleeves may actually work out just as well, plus it's already fucking heavy as it is and I'm beginning to think that weight-stretch may counteract felting-shrink to a certain degree. Compare progress in today's picture to where I left off on Thursday, and reflect that if I'd had the proper needle in the first place I'd be two more days along by now.

Vet appointment for the Little Monsters tomorrow at 11. Must figure out how to get two boxed cats and some working subset of the knitting out to the car without having to make too many trips...
