I'm at the stage of this cold where I'm not sick enough to want to stay in bed, but I'm not exactly well enough to be able to do much of anything either. (I believe the Kubler-Ross scale refers to this as "Stage 4 - Blind Rage".) Interesting Substances are no longer coming out of my orifices, but all this slight improvement has done is to lull me into a sense of false confidence, to be brutally shattered anew each time I try to manipulate anything more delicate than the remote. Does anyone else out there get this way towards the end of a cold -- that feeling that you really ought to get up and clean the house, only to find when you try that your hands are still as clumsy as paws and you're prostrated by coughing fits just picking up after the cats? Or is this just a manifestation of my natural restlessness, that I'm tempermentally incapable of staying in bed one minute past the point where I physically can't get up out of it? Either way, I think I'm in for another day of aimless websurfing and guilt...
Oh, yes, and Olympics postmortem impression: all in all, not nearly so bad as the nadir marked by CBS's coverage of Nagano, but jeebus, guys, haven't you figured out yet that the ratings are slipping because you're not showing much of anything live anymore? If we've all had the results for twelve hours already, then what's our real incentive to tune in to your adfest for the highlights? Give me ABC's gavel-to-gavel coverage back at the Calgary games over this tepid imitation of excitement any day...
