Despite generally playing Pinky to Snip's Brain, Weasel has been doing some learning of her own: I noticed this afternoon that when the furnace starts clearing its throat preparatory to firing up, Weasel hops up onto the tv to bask in the heat-vent downdraft that happens to be aimed there. For Weasel, this is the equivalent of performing brain surgery, so I'm quite impressed.
- New Thing Learned for 27 January: The "snare" of a "snare drum" is a flat strip of wires strapped across the bottom drumhead. Obviously, I never hung out with a band during my sad excuse for a Misspent Youth. [Source: "How It's Made".]

- New Thing Learned for 30 January: Pressing just the "add 30 seconds" button on the microwave that came with the condo puts 30 seconds on the timer and starts it cooking, which is nifty if trivial to know. [Source: experimentation.]
