The hit new reality show "Campaign 2004" returns from hiatus for a Very Special Episode: Senator Kerry has handed the decisive rose to the other celebrity lookalike from the campaign trail, and the happy couple are off on a whirlwind honeymoon. Rejected contestants are doing their best to plaster on grins as they wish the ticket well, but what we all wouldn't give to see outtakes from the video confessionals... Reaction from viewers at home is largely, "Meh, at least he picked the cute one, that Gephardt guy doesn't, like, have any eyebrows!"
Very disjointed weekend. Couldn't get myself out the door on Saturday to head over to
alicebentley's yard sale until just before it started to pour rain; the book selection had been picked over by the time I arrived, but the moment I walked into the foyer that the soggy remnants had retreated into, my eyes lit upon a matched pair of old-style Macs huddling in a corner wearing tags that said "$10/each". I only had one $10 bill in my wallet, but at the prospect of not having to lug two sixteen-pound electronic paperweights all the way to Seattle she let me carry them both off for that. Mmm, art supplies...
Sunday was supposed to have featured an outing to the Taste of Chicago to attend concerts with
febrile and selected other LJ'ers, but what with the rain on Saturday this had already dropped to an iffy proposition even before the general sleep-deprivation of hosting an intermittent invasion of workmen caught up with me and laid me out for most of Sunday afternoon. Oh, well, maybe next year.
Mum and I had made tentative plans to spend the weekend's extra bonus day going to catch a matinee of Spiderman 2 after tackling a load of laundry, but once again my disrupted sleep-schedule interfered, this time keeping me up all night reading better-than-average fanfic until we had missed our window for squeezing the laundry in before the movie. Evening therefore spent hanging about in boring-but-dutiful laundromat instead of theater. Knitted gift for the initial offspring of the

ojdorson union now air-drying in dining-room window; quite pleased with results if I do say so myself.
Workmen alleged Friday that they were to return this morning to finish off the job, or possibly the apartment. As of just yet, they still haven't shown up, although I do hear power tools elsewhere in the building. But looking on the bright side, their failure to arrive first thing in the morning means that I've had about 6 hours of sleep to go off to tonight's boardgames MeetUp instead of the half-hour that I had accidentally allotted myself by not lying down for my nap until 7:15 AM. I'm tired enough to go back to sleep, but with my luck that would be when the workmen finally decide to put in an appearance...
Still haven't gotten round to working on query letter, dammit.
