- New Thing Learned for 15 January: Brigitte Helm of Metropolis fame was the original choice for the role in The Blue Angel that eventually went to Marlene Dietrich. From this the astute Reader can get a fair guess as to when I actually did get up on Sunday. [Source: Turner Classic Movies.]
- New Thing Learned for 16 January: Habitually squirreling away the packets that circular knitting needles come in turns out to be a Very Good Idea, because then I don't have to track down the needles themselves to figure out which sizes I have in which lengths. This is relevant because now I know that I actually don't have the needle I need for something I'm working on and I can go to the LYS for one without having to rip up the house first. Knitting guild meeting tonight, and someone had brought the Tribune article about the city's knitting thingie, in which one can just see my favorite striped hat in the corner of the main photo. I'm so happy for it.
