Behold, the latest project to come out of the Mad Scientist's Artroom via the lighting department at IKEA:
( mmm, lampy... )
It's one of those $9 lamps that have been infesting IKEA for the last year or two, with a balsa-wood shell built around the glass shade; total project cost under $20 (not counting my time, which would have been a fairly minor investment if I'd had a clearer idea how I was going to go about this from the outset) for a pretty sharp look, considering that the original I saw in a book of "how to build arts&crafts furniture [properly]" would have been at least 3 times that for materials alone, much less labor and setting up a workroom with Real Tools. I've got it on my desk now, as you can see (since it was displaced as a bedside lamp by Griff 3.0), and it's soo darn cute I could plotz. Whatever plotzing is. And I continue to be amazed as well by how the little details of this condo seem to always have anticipated human needs, considering how many places I've lived in that never seemed to have enough outlets for the essentials, much less decorative lighting that we don't even need because the whole flat is well-covered by ceiling can-lights. Overall, Very Pleased with myself.
So, no takers for pizza on the 21st? :(
