From the "This Another Of Your Spooky-Do's Is It" file, #17: So, I've been going to this knitting group that meets near the ballpark for about a year now, and early on I decided that it would be a good part of (...read, pretty much the entirety) a Fitness Regime to hike the 4.5 miles home from it as often as weather permitted (and occasionally not, but the night I got soaked to my underpants is another story which I may tell after a few more years of therapy), since I've got a nice iPod to keep me company, right? It's an interesting enough trek, and I've seen bits of the city you miss from the window of a car, but the fact that I have to cross the river means that I basically have the choice of three bridges if I don't want to be walking along a riverside park at night. Therefore, I've gotten quite familiar with some little corners of neighborhoods.
About a month ago, I noticed something. Completely at random, out of a playlist three times longer than this actual walk, the iPod had picked the same song to play at the same corner by a little park near the bridge that it had chosen there the previous week. ("Womanizer", for the record -- do not ask me why I have anything by Britney Spears on this iPod, it amused me SHUT UP) Hm, that's interesting, I thought.
And then it happened again the next week.
It didn't happen the week after that, although I was half expecting it to by now. But just tonight, same corner by the little park.... there it was again. Now, this is absolutely random, I have added and removed things from the playlist in this length of time, I'll skip items I'm not particularly in the mood for at that instant, but while I do happen to know that it takes more or less 43:50 whichever way I go, 'cos I've got a certain radio-play file on said iPod that I've listened to on this trek a few times, there is absolutely no reason for the regular "get off your fat arse and take a walk already" playlist to have unrandomized itself like this... is there?
