It is some measure of my current mental state that the potential offer of a ticket to the upcoming Chicago TARDIS con immediately sets me up to have actual no-shit nightmares about the rest of the details, such as getting myself there and back; oh, there's a train to the general vicinity, but making it the last 4 miles from there would still be a matter of relying on someone to give me a lift (there's no bus during the relevant hours, this being wayoutthehellandgone in bloody Lombard), and I'm not entirely sure I'm at a place in my head where I could handle the uncertainty of schlepping out and crossing my fingers that said lift would be at the other end to pick me up, given that those sorts of arrangements ping hard on my general background Abandonment Issues on a good day. (Not to mention that if I missed connecting with the last train back into the city, the next one's an 8-hour wait, which is a whole other bucket of anxieties regarding the reliability of a lift back to the train...) Anybody have a brainweasel trap I could borrow? Doesn't have to be particularly cruelty-free...
