Day, um, wherever I left off: Began the sleeves on schedule, as this sequence shows, but in a tragic reversal, I do not project being able to finish by the time the torch goes out, as I have caught a cold and today at the very least is shot to hell for getting much done, since it's too hard to knit when I'm grabbing for kleenex every minute or two, not to mention the side effects of trying to stay hydrated. Will pick things up when I'm feeling up to it (IE when I can focus both my eyes into the same plane again) and see how much longer this project does take me to finish -- my estimate is about 35 more hours of knitting yet to put in, which is why I'm willing to admit defeat so early if today's blown. Not quite sure though that it could be said that I bit off more than I could handle, since I did lose about three days' working-time to the troubles over the needle, so I'm not going to beat myself up on that account. (Too much.)

Snip did try to cheer me up by offering to help, but went off in a huff when I pointed out that she hasn't grown opposable thumbs yet despite her best efforts.
The silver lining here is that without the outside deadline, I don't have to rush with the sleeves quite so much, and I can add more of a margin-for-felting-error to them than finishing by Sunday would have really allowed. Kimono sleeves, after all, are easier to live with than pipestems, if one's calculations -- or washer -- turn out to be screwy...
