Editing progress: completed. Got to the end of the final page last night at 7:23, which was good because Mum got home at 7:25. I decided to knock off for the night at that point, so I'm just now sitting down to enter the second half of the edits into the file.
Next the manuscript gets run through the spellchecker, set into an appropriate font, and printed out; tomorrow or Sunday I'll take the printout to Kinko's to strike a mailing-copy from the master (since it's cheaper than printing out every time I need one, toner cartridges don't grow on trees you know), and over the course of next week it'll get one last check-over on the off-chance that the editing process let in any 'the the's... and then, next Friday, October 31st, off to the Post Office it goes. I'm so excited I could puke. :)
Now that I've got to this point, I should finally have a few minutes (or hours, LOL) to sit down and sort out the typing up of the Acknowledgements List, which I hope to have posted here sometime soon-ish, as in 'first week of November most likely'. Most of the emails I've gotten back (about half the donors IICR, haven't had time to sit down with it) are amenable to the general notion of passing the remainder of the "Griff's Medical Fund" along to another Mac in need, which I'm still working out how to set up; a few, however, have responded to the effect of "oh, just use it for yourself" -- so since I'm not entirely comfortable with that notion as such, I've decided that it would be an appropriate compromise to apply some of those funds towards the purpose of thanking LiveJournal for providing the outlet for all my carryings-on while I was In Distress. So I'm going to bite the bullet and make this journal a Paid account -- for how long depends on the exact figures, I know there's at least $25 of the fund that falls under this header, so I'll start with a year for this installment. (I think there's probably also enough to thank 'As the Apple Turns' by getting a t-shirt, that seems like another appropriate use considering.) Again, details will be posted here as I work out the math...
