I've been thinking, myself, as the alert level goes up and down and the average person becomes more and more desensitized to it, that what's actually going on is that the Bad Guys (whomever they may be at this point) have now figured out that the most efficient way to destroy us isn't even to really plan an attack, but simply to talk about planning an attack and then sit back laughing their guts out as we fall all over ourselves spending money we don't have on spurious security measures... but then, I've been told I'm a cynic.
