Now the relatively new backup flash drive has been acting peculiar. SO cannot take much more computer-related stress right now. I switched it to the other available port on my USB hub when it got stuck just now while transferring files to the point where I had to force-quit the Finder and relaunch, and it seemed to work OK once the computer was restarted, but I've burned a CD anyway, and I suspect I'll go through a few more before I can lay hands on a backup drive to my backup drive...
(And I know flash drives fail. And that they're relatively cheap, so it's Not That Big A Deal in the overall scheme of things. But it's kind of a big deal in this household, especially during the last couple of weeks of December when Mum gets two short paychecks from the holidays instead of a bonus like normal people... Argh. CDs aren't cheap either and I don't want to have to burn a new one after every writing session for fear that the Mac itself is going down next...)
