Question for the Internet Brain Trust: if I have a jack labelled "CAT5" in my wall-plates next to my phone-jacks (which is at least allegedly connected to some wiring, according to the dude we bought the place off of), does this mean that I could plug the ethernet cable coming out of my modem into that jack in the wall, and then plug a second ethernet cable into the CAT5 jack in another room to route into a computer there, and thus get my internet on somewhere other than directly from where the modem is? I ask not merely for George's sake but because if I can't get the @!##$ replacement DSL modem working this would be how Mum would be getting online with Gareth-that-was-Gaius, at least until we might someday put together the dosh for setting up wireless in here...
