Finally managed to catch someone on the phone to confirm that yeah, the rest of the condo association have basically decided that the basement-dwelling hippie vermin needn't be consulted about anything to go in another direction that doesn't include our input RE the planting areas in the back. To say that Mum and I are rather miffed about the lack of communications regarding the decision-making process overall would be... Um, yeah.
Looking on the bright side, to the extent that there is one, we raised the idea of having some containers near our kitchen stairs and didn't get shot down, so it looks as if that would be how I'd get my garden on from now on. If I could bloody AFFORD that. I'm not entirely sure I trust this lot not to fall over the damn things accidentally-on-purpose, either, not to mention that it's a bad spot for catching damage from huge chunks of ice off the roof. But if it's the only way to keep myself even marginally sane in the summers, I suppose we'll have to go look at big pots and mud... {sigh}
(The irony being, that if this was really about the assessments, they've just forced us into spending more money on something other than catching up. Given that they're allegedly going to get out and do something landscapey with the plots on Sunday, I suspect I was right all along that it was really an aesthetic issue...)
