Sick AGAIN, blankety-blank it. (Third cold in about six weeks, if anyone's keeping track.) This time round at least there's been a little spare money for DayQuil, which has been keeping me functional or at least too doped-up to complain; I've managed, through the thick of this one, to carry on and lug the equivalent of my body-weight in mud down into our flat to prepare my substitute garden, and then just now I lugged it all back up the back stairs again all prepped and seeded. 18 gallons of mud, rocks, and peat moss is... quite heavy, but just manageable in a container with proper handles; I don't think these are going anywhere casually, man. And they're bright green, so if anybody falls over the damn things I'm going to know it was On Purpose. (It's far less unsightly than what they've done out back, IMNSHO.)
Also managed to get out to knitting last night, thanks to having adequate drugs (although I had to ring Mum to find them because as it turned out she'd accidentally tossed the packet with the last dose still in it into the recycle bin), and discovered on my way that with the New Improved Glasses I was able to resolve the pair of I-don't-think-that's-just-a-different-species-of-gulls that I've previously seen hanging around by the weir where the river meets the canal into black-crowned night herons. I have been missing a hell of a lot these past, oh, seven or eight years. And I didn't need to sit in the front row to see anything at knitting either, which was nice because it involved a slideshow. (I am still trying to work out how the bit about paperclips and the Norwegian Resistance came into the story about fancy mittens, but at least I know I didn't miss the connection for want of being able to read the intertitles this time...)
And, since this appears to have turned into a general housekeeping roundup post, go have a look at the refined version of
meeksp's sketch for Tin Man, eh...? ;)
