Oh, and to counteract a tiny bit of the Suck:
There's a footbridge by the park with sides completely made of chain-link fencing. As I was passing nearby last night, I happened to spot some moving blobs on the middle of the bridge. When I approached as closely as a barricade allowed (since the footbridge is closed while the park on the other side is being redone), it was a family of raccoons, Mum and three adolescents about 3/4 her size. They all looked me up and down and waffled for a bit, then Mum climbed up the inside of the chain-link, followed by all the babies... and then they all climbed back down the outside of the fence, one by one and in much confusion, and attempted to walk towards the bank on my side along the outside edge of the bridge. From this I have learned two things: baby raccoons are incredibly cute when they're climbing down the other side of a chain-link fence and their furry bellies are sticking through the holes, and I really need a damn cameraphone, as I was telling the raccoon family throughout.
BTW, I heard a couple of splashes. So I think at least one of them fell in. :)
