I could use y'all's thoughts on something here:

it occurred to me that, since one of the obstacles to my doing ebook versions of my fiction is the want of an ebook-reader-like device to proof the damn things on (since George is, ahem, not exactly an option for sitting and reading long texts, as I've long since learnt) -- does it sound reasonable to try a Kickstarter to get myself an ebook-reader-like device to use in production of said ebook files, with incentives like "a nice convenient ebook file of Tin Man", "that + an ebook of Hiraeth when the main storyline is over", "all that + I'll knit you a Silly Hat"... etc? I've been having trouble wrapping my head around how the Kickstarter model applies to fiction, but this seems like the sort of small finite goal that would be very do-able, with a concrete connection to "...and then I can do this thing for you with it"...

Good idea? Bad idea? Horrible breach of etiquette? SEWIWEIC...?
