Slight correction to previous entries, Mum's old Mac is a IIci (the IIsi was the one a previous workplace was going to chuck in the bin, that committed suicide when it discovered what sort of conditions I would be expecting it to work under...) But this actually makes very little practical difference anyway, either model is far too Outdated to be of much real use. So I am back at the library today, since I needed the exercise anyway. I saw a downy woodpecker on the way over, which I suppose made it worth the walk...
Still waiting for word on Griff's condition; they did say 'Wednesday at the earliest', but this is, I will confess, about the length of time where I start thinking, "oh, god, it's terminal and they're afraid to tell me..." {LOL} After deducting the $75 that Mum is already out-of-pocket for, you kind Readers have contributed $390 towards Griff's medical costs, which I hope to Steve should be enough to bail Griff back out of the service department with no matter what this turns out to be ('terminal' would be another case, of course, but I did notice they've still got a few discontinued 'Snow' iMacs for $799 in the back -- guess I ought to keep the fund open just in case, being the paranoid belt-and-suspenders type I am). But it's not terminal, I must keep telling myself that, it can't be terminal... I'll call MicroCenter on Monday if I haven't heard by then.
(You know, since one is rationed library-internet-time in half-hour increments, it would be really useful if they'd thought to set their PCs up with a clock one can actually frickin' SEE... oh, there it is, smashed down into the corner. All righty, then:)
And, on top of all this Emotional Stress, now the water's finally off-in-the-daytimes-to-work-on-the-main. This situation is theoretically to hold for tomorrow and then Monday and Tuesday of next week. They seem pretty reasonable about having it back on around three, but it's still an annoyance for one who works at home...
Oh, and I'm still cut off from my mail, so far as I can tell -- I can "sort of" access it via web from this library, but some automessages that I KNOW would have been sent aren't showing up to me, so I think I shall just give it up for the duration. Although I can delete some of accumulating spam from here, which is a Good Thing.
I need a hug...
